Storeman

Growth and decay are fundamental realities. All living things in their specific form perform something unique to their species. When they are dead, they all undergo the same process of decomposition into their fundamental molecular components. These components no longer perform tasks related to the living organism. Nature is responsible for life and renewal in each species as well as the process of decomposition.

Our equipment is also designed to perform very specific functions repeatedly and reliably. New equipment, whether operated or not, starts decaying immediately, unlike living beings. Maintenance needs to be the life force behind our plant and equipment’s’ specific physical existence with the aim of giving it renewal and sustainability, whether from wear and tear or damage.

We will measure our effectiveness using plant availability.

Every spare part has a specific function in the system as a whole and the system fails without it. In order to bring renewal and sustainability into our plant and equipment, we need to have the right spare parts and tools. Our spare parts and tools must be readily available in order to be efficient.

The Storeman will be responsible for all the spares and tools in the workshop and stores. He will receive all the spares from suppliers and pack them on their respective place in the store. He will ensure that all spares are replenished as soon as they reach their minimum levels. He will control the issuing of spares and tools to the Artisans and capture them on a digital system. The Storeman will look after and control the Technical Library which contain all drawings, manuals and training document.

Critical Success Factors:

  • Keep the stores and workshop organized and clean.
  • Replenish spares as required to the minimum spares list.
  • Control the movement of spares and tools out of the stores.
  • Control the movement of manuals and books out of the Library.
  • Do version control on all drawings.
  1. Keep the stores and workshop organized and clean.

    2. Each shelf needs a number and must correspond to the spares and tool list.

    3. By the end of each day all parts and tools must be on its place.

  2. Replenish spares as required to the minimum spares list.
    1. Generate Order Request when spares reach minimum level.

    2. Generate Order Request for non-stock items.

    3. Receive deliveries of spares.

    4. Conduct audits of spares on hand.

  3. Control the movement of spares and tools out of the stores.
    1. All spares and tools must be signed out.

    2. Spares to respective plants must be documented.

    3. Tools must be returned in the same condition as it went out.

    4. Conduct audits of tools on hand.
